“There are times in this life where God can feel all too absent. Or there are times in this life where God’s calling can feel all too inconvenient, or God’s rules are all too harsh, or God’s community all too maddening, or God’s example all too pie-in-the-sky. There are times when you aren’t sure about this God of ours, aren’t sure this God will come through, unsure this God can be trusted. But if this God whose heart recoils at the idea of not loving us…if this sort of God is our God, then that makes it just a little bit easier to trust God…because this God loves you.”
