Retirement Blessing

Posted on February 22, 2025 | Posted by Mary Stoneback
On Sunday, February 23, we invite all those who have recently retired to receive a special blessing during either the 8:00 AM or 10:30 AM service. We look forward to celebrating this important transition in your life and recognizing your ongoing purpose in Christ. This invitation is open to anyone seeking a blessing as they navigate this new chapter. After the service, join us for a cake reception during fellowship hour. Everyone is welcome! If you have any questions, please reach out to Deacon Mary Stoneback, Jim DeLoughry, or Elisa Thompson.
Retirement Through A Faith Lens
- Retirement is as much a new beginning as it is an end
- It is that purifying gift and stage of life inviting us to summarize and integrate the meaning of who we’ve become and are, as a reflection of God’s love
- It is the point in one’s life where we see from a greater vantage point the events, circumstances, and relationships that have filled the chalice of life; an offering to God of the total self
- It is the phase when hopes and dreams can be actualized free from the structures that would hinder personal and spiritual growth
- It is the time in life when we change our focus from “Doing” to”Being.” A time for shedding some of the unnecessary trappings for a simpler existence; yet remain involved in the mission of the church- be that in prayer, in presence, or in service.
- God is purposeful… and retirement has a purpose.
