NAMI Donation: Greeting Cards With a Purpose
Posted on December 30, 2024 | Posted by Mary Stoneback
Thanks to the people at Ascension who purchase cards from the card rack, the Card Ministry was able to recently donate $1000 to the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. They offer support groups for people living with mental health conditions as well as for family members. All support groups are free. They are always looking for volunteers to facilitate support groups, teach classes, and perform office tasks. Training and support is provided at no cost. The people at the NAMI office were stunned and ever so grateful at the size of this donation. To learn more about this vital organization in our community and the various services they offer, visit their website: www.namicoloradosprings.org To volunteer with NAMI, go to https://www.namicoloradosprings.org/volunteer.html or visit the main NAMI website and click on the “More” tab to get to the Volunteer section.
The Card Ministry is comprised of a small group of ladies that meet monthly to create greeting cards which are sold on the card rack. They have fun together doing God’s work with their hands and hearts. In the past six years, the Card Ministry has given nearly $8000 in donations to Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity, KPC, LFS Immigration & Refugee Services, and The Place. This could not have happened without the generosity of the people at Ascension who purchase the cards. The Card Ministry operates primarily on donated supplies with a Thrivent Action Grant used to purchase specific supplies for Christkindl Fest.
