God’s Work, Our Backyard – Community Panels
Posted on April 4, 2018 | Posted by Pastor Daniel
Ascension is seeking to better understand the many ways God is at work in this city and the many ways we are being called to care for our neighbors.
To do that, we’ve invited community leaders to share their joys, concerns and hopes for Colorado Springs. All are invited to attend two panel discussions on April 15 and 22, from 9:15-10:15, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2505 N. Circle Dr. in Colorado Springs.
April 15 panel – God’s Work, Our Backyard: The Neighborhood
– Nancy Smith, principal of Audubon Elementary
– Traci Hearne, director of KPC Kids Place
– Andy Phelps, Homelessness Prevention and Response Coordinator for Colorado Springs
– A local sergeant with CSPD
April 22 panel – God’s Work, Our Backyard: The City
– Don Knight, Colorado Springs City Council
– Claire Anderson, Executive Director for Innovations on Aging
– Colonel Ronald Fitch, Ft. Carson
– Bill Ayen, UCCS.
Pastor Daniel Smith: “The way the good news of God’s undefeatable love is told looked different in First-Century Athens than it did in Twentieth-Century Ethiopia and different than it does in Colorado Springs today. So in order to know what God’s doing here in Colorado Springs and how we can help, we need to know what’s going on in Colorado Springs.”
