Freedom

Pastor Daniel’s sermon for April 22, 2018 on Acts 16:16-34
What is this strange freedom God gives? It’s the freedom granted to each and every one of you today. A freedom that won’t loosen all those bonds of this world. It won’t solve your money woes. It won’t release you from the lure of advertisers, the restrictions of custom, or the shackles of greed, prejudice, or pride. It won’t solve your dead-end job. But it will lessen the impact of those chains. Because they can’t make a claim on who you are anymore. You’re free from that. They can’t tell you that you are less without them. You’re free from that. What is freedom? True freedom? I’m still not entirely sure. But I know this, those grips on us, they don’t mean as much as they used to. They lose some of their power. And I also know: that feels great. You are free. You are given this strange freedom. And now that you have it, what is there to do but sing? Amen.
