Courage for an Unknown Future

Hear this promise. That in that new land ahead of us. In that new
era, the one we only see glimpses of – and those frighten us. Christ is
already there ahead of us. The same Christ who died and rose that we
might live. The same Christ who formed us as a people. The same Christ
who holds us today. The same Christ, the same grace, the same call, the
same strength. The same Christ is there ahead of us. We dip our feet
in the river and cross to the other side, neither resisting the changes
ahead nor abandoning who we’ve become, but trusting God to be there.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Standing on the shores of the river, your feet shake. Your breath
quickens. You hesitate. But the God who brought you this far, walks
with you still and always will. Take courage. Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday, today, and forever. Amen.
