CLC School Supplies & Blessing of the Backpacks–August 7th

Believe it or not, it is that time of year again–back to school! Parents agree that school supply shopping can be stressful, what with school lists dictating numerous, and very specific, materials required. However, for some families it’s not only the specifications of those lists–it’s how much the items on them cost. Ascension believes students should not have to go to school feeling unprepared. That’s is why we’ve been collecting donations (in the form of notebooks, binders, colored pencils, backpacks, etc) since July 19th to provide kids from the Children’s Learning Center with the things they need for this school year. Extra supplies will be donated to Audubon Elementary School. We will be accepting donations until August 3rd–so there’s still one day left to donate!

This Sunday we will also be having our annual Blessing of the Backpacks, meant for scholars of all ages. During both services, we invite teachers, students, and other school personnel forward to receive a special blessing–as a reminder that Ascension supports everyone in their classroom endeavors, and that God remains with us matter what challenges lay ahead this school year. Be sure to bring your backpack up with you for the blessing!
