An Alternative to Drowning

At the end of those three days, the great fish vomited up a man on the shores of the sea. But it was not the same man that the fish swallowed. The man the fish swallowed was defeated. The man the fish swallowed had no hope. The man the fish swallowed knew of God’s power, but did not trust God. The man the fish swallowed did not believe himself worthy of God’s love or mercy. But the man squinting his eyes after three days in darkness was someone else entirely. His was a new life. His was a life of faith, and hope, and trust. A life of calling. A new life.
May God do the same to you, bring you through death and into life. But you know, with a little less stink. Amen.
